Cadbury, A Socially Responsible Company
A family of brands people love, including our Trident* gum.
Corporate responsibility is one of the things that makes Cadbury special and for nearly 200 years we have lived by the belief that ’doing good for our community is doing good for business’. Today we’re as committed to corporate responsibility as ever before and we’ve created and implemented unique Cadbury programs that reflect our values and principles. We have embedded sustainability right into our business and we’ve made aggressive commitments that will keep us on our toes and keep us moving forward. Whether at home base or around the globe, we challenge ourselves to be bigger and better every day. For more about Cadbury and social responsibility, visit www.dearcadbury.com.
Purple Goes Green.

In 2007, Cadbury launched Purple Goes Green, which is our absolute commitment to action on climate change. We are one of the first food companies to announce absolute commitments which will minimize the environmental impact of our business.
Our Purple Goes Green targets are:
Energy: 50% reduction in our absolute carbon emissions.
Packaging: 10% reduction in standard product packaging and a more stretching target of 25% for seasonal and gift ranges. We will also aim for 60% biodegradable packaging.
Water: 100% "water scarce" sites will have water reduction programmes in place.
The Cadbury Green Advocates lead the charge as internal champions for change across the Cadbury global network. Today we have over 200 green advocates in over 30 countries.

Bullfrog power is Ontario’s only green energy provider. Cadbury is one of Bullfrog’s first commercial clients, and still one of their largest. Our head office in Toronto and our distribution centre in Stoney Creek are bullfrog powered.

EcoLeague, in partnership with Learning for a Sustainable Future, is designed to rally students in elementary schools to save the planet. EcoLeague advances sustainability in the curriculum by sponsoring educational forums where teachers and students learn about sustainability projects they can bring back to their schools. Schools then develop a program that Cadbury colleagues will provide the arms and legs for through our volunteer program (each colleague has two work days a year to devote to volunteerism).

Dig In is a Cadbury program that encourages active volunteering and community involvement on company time. Annually, colleagues from coast to coast roll up their sleeves and dig in! In past year's we have beautified public spaces, improved the waterfront, planted over 3,000 trees at national parks and more. Cadbury was previously recognized by Toronto Mayor David Miller with a Clean Beautiful City Award as a result of the company’s Dig In activities.

We’ve established the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership to secure the economic, social and environmental sustainability of around a million cocoa farmers and their communities in Ghana, India, Indonesia and the Caribbean, through:
- Long-term commitment to improving farmer livelihoods and farming communities
- Direct farmer involvement alongside NGO partners and governments
- Ghanaian President and United Nations pledge their support
